Can you help us find our our lost Ryerson's?

  1. Abraham Ryerson, private in Capt. Samuel Demarest's Co., Col Jackson's Reg., N.J. detailed militia. Enrolled Sept. 18, 1812, discharged Nov. 30, 1812. Isaac Ryerson, same as above.
  2. John Ryerson, private, Capt. John Farr's Co., Col. John Frelinghuysen's Reg. Enrolled Sept. 3, 1812, discharged 1814.
  3. Uriah Ryerson, private, Capt. Samuel's Smith's Co., Col John Frelinghuysen's Reg. Enrolled Sept. 19, 1814, discharged, Dec. 2, 1814.
  4. John I. Ryerson, miller,of Franklin,N.J., and Mary, his wife, on May 5, 1808, Sell Land, part of property of John Ryerson, deceased.
  5. John H. Ryerson, of Saddle River, and Mary his wife, on Feb. 21, 1797, sell land.
  6. Peter A, Ryerson, and Abraham Ryerson and Sarah Jackson sell land in Bergan, Co., in 1829.
  7. Susan Ryerson, widow of William, sells dower right in 1832.

  13. Ryerson burial Plot at Wanaque has record of Abram Sanford, Died Oct 20, 1850,aged 49 years 7 months, 6 days, and of Jane Ryerson, his wife d. July 18, 1877, aged 71 years, 17 days.
  14. Ann Jacobus Doremus, born Sept. 9, 1817, married Abraham Ryerson, of Pacquenac. She and her husband died on the same day, May 13, 1891.
  15. Louise dau. of Martin Ryerson of Ithaca, N.Y., married Charles d. Humphrey, in 1856.

  28. On Sept. 9, 1806. one Elizabeth Ryerson was married in the Jamaica Church to Jonathan Sticklen.
  29. Ryer J. Ryerson, Cartman, was registered and sworn as a freeman of New York on May. 1, 1784.
  30. Ann Ryerson, married June 30, 1798, (as third wife) Johannis Mandville.
  31. Peter Ryerson, married in 1816 or 1826, Sally Crane, born 1798,died 1872. she was the Daughter of Abijah Crane, and Mary ( Jacobus) Crane. Sally and Peter had six children.
  32. Cornelius Hendrickson Herbert and Caroline, his wife, Charlotte Ryerson, wife of Martin Ryerson, and Martin Ryerson sell to Amos R. Eno. of New York, lot on Chapel St. ,N.W. of Broadway, on May 1, 1854. Mr. Ryerson died April 11, 1863, aged 63. Was buried in St. Paul's Churchyard, Broadway, N.Y.
  33. Sarah Ryerson, died June 27, 1826, aged 77 years and 6 months. Buried at St. Johns.
  34. Peter Ryerson died April 14, 180_,aged 33. buried at St. Paul's.

Stephen Ryerson was born 9 Feb. 1763 in Dutchess Co., NY. He enlisted for the Revoluntionary War in the fall of 1777 at 14 years of age. He was captured in a skirmish near Tarrytown, NY and taken to Plymouth, England where he was held for 6 months.


He married Elisabeth Keim 8 Oct., 1789 in Rockbridge Co., VA. They had 5 children, Betsey b. 1789, William b. 1791, Catherine b. 1793, Jacon b. 1795 and Nancy b. 1797. He susposedly married Mary Keim, sister to Elisabeth, April 17, 1794, in Stokes Co., NC. The marriage bond is blank, so it is believed to be a forged document. Stephen and Mary had 11 children. They spent the rest of their lives in Stokes Co.
